Advanced Workshop Series (Grades 6-10): Due to increasing interest, we will be offering four Advanced Workshops this summer for students grades 6-10! These will be held on Mondays throughout the summer. They will feature more advanced activities and concepts for a higher age group! If your child is interested in natural science, outdoor adventure, and animals, these workshops were made just for them! The workshops are as follows:
7/1-Adventure Teamwork ($60) Students will learn valuable lessons about teamwork and pushing themselves through a series of fun and challenging activities and climbs in our Adventure Center! We will also spend some time downstairs with the Nature Center's animal residents.
7/15-World of Water ($60) Better bring a change of clothes today, because it's all about water! We will learn about water chemistry, conduct fun (and safe!) chemical tests of the Nature Center's tanks, conduct a study of a local stream, and even try to clean a fake oil spill! Some time will also be spent with the Nature Center's animal residents, and climbing on the rock walls in the Adventure Center!
8/5-Kayaking ($60) Students will get to spend a day on the water, learn boat safety, and have some fun in the sun on our sit-on-top kayaks! We will be able to have a nice challenging paddle with this age group, so be ready to work those arms!
8/26-Field Studies:Herpetology ($60) Today is for the animals lovers! We will learn how to identify native species of reptile and amphibians, comparing them to some of the animal residents of the Nature Center, and then taking a hike to conduct some citizen science! Every reptile and amphibian we find on our trip will be catalogued and submitted to the PA Amphibian and Reptile Survey, a real scientific organization that studies the distribution of herps in PA!
You can register for any or all of these workshops with the registration form at the bottom of the page, or email Molly at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions! Sign up for all 4 workshops and we'll take $40 off your total cost. We hope to see you this summer!
